This is your first chance to see your new Recruit. It's also the last time he'll be together with his entire graduating company. To get the best photos remain in one place. The Recruits run in both directions. Left to right. Then, right to left. This way nobody misses an opportunity for the perfect picture.

LIBERTY FORMATION

 

 

Parade Deck a.k.a.Shepherd field ..| 12:30 PM

After this ceremony you can go over and give your recruit a big hug. Drill Instructor's will direct you where to sit. You'll be seated as close as possible to your recruit. Please don't ever walk on the Parade Deck. It's hallowed ground. If you do, you'll get reprImanded over the loudspeakers.

 

Liberty Formation has replaced the Eagle Globe and Anchor [ EGA ] Ceremony of 2007. The EGA is now a private affair between recruits and their D.I.'s. It happens at Camp Pendleton at the end of the "Crucible". You can't go to it.

DEPOT LIBERTY

 

 

New Marines cannot leave the depot ..| 1:00 - 6:00 PM

It's now that America's newest Marines get to enjoy some well deserved time off from training. They can spend it aboard the depot watching a movie, going bowling, checking their Email or just visiting with familiy and friends. Marines are welcome to explore the depot and shop at any of its facilities.

 

Some of the favorite hangouts for new Marines and their families are the mall, the Bay View Restaurant and the Recreation Center with it's many coaches, tables, widescreen t.v.'s and inviting sports bar.

COLORS CEREMONY

 

 

Commanding General's Headquarters ..| 8:00 - 8:30 AM ..| Optional event

An optional event. Beginning promptly at 8:00 AM. Witness the sunrise and the raising of the flags. Enjoy performances by Marine Band San Diego and the Color Guard. The ceremony takes place in front of the Commanding General's Headquarters. To find the headquarters look for a building, at the end of the Parade Deck, with a white turret at the top of it.

GRADUATION CEREMONY

 

 

Parade Deck A.K.A Shepherd field ..| 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

please be in your seats no later than 9:45 AM. Graduation marks the end of a recruits time in boot camp. It's his final dismissal and the culmination of public ceremonies. The graduation ceremony includes the graduating recruits, their Drill Instructors and other key training personnel.

 

The distinguished personnel present are the Depot's Commanding General, the parade reviewing officer and the parade staff. Highlighted performances include the Marine Band San Diego and the Depot Mascot. An English Bulldog named, Belleau Wood.
