WALKING AROUND THE DEPOT
Don't ever, ever, walk on the Parade Deck. The Parade Deck is sacred ground. Stay on the sidewalks, keep off the grass and out of the streets. Remember, this is a working military installation.
ADDRESS FOR MAP DIRECTIONS
Marine Corps Recuit Depot, 3800 Chosin Avenue, San Diego, CA 92140
FAMILY DAY AND GRADUATION DAY
All visitor vehicles MUST enter through Gate #5 (Washington Stree, exit off of highway 5 north or south).
Have your drivers license, registration and insurance ready. Every driver must have this. Everyone entering the Depot must have a valid picture I.D. (School, state, etc. ). Keep your I.D. with you at all times. If you think someone is to young to need an I.D. please call the MCRD Provost Marshal's (MCRD Police) office to confirm. Their number is 619.524.4202
HOW DO I FIND MY NEW MARINE IF I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT HIM
Personal affects will be given back to new Marines on Family Day. If he had a cell phone going into Boot Camp he will be given it back at this time. Call him first.
Second, If that doesn't work, check the Bay View Restaurant. Almost every Marine goes here for the "Liberty Lunch" buffett. One thing about Marines, they sure know where to find free chow.
Third, try locating him on the "Mall" of the Depot. The mall's located just opposite of the parade deck (where the graduation was). It's on the other side of the flag pole. The mall's pretty central and the Depot is pretty small so you can't miss it.
Lastly, the only thing you can do is look out for him. You're bound to run into him sometime. It's a band of brother's now and you're all family. If you're not shy, just start asking new Marines if they've seen him. All Marines graduating that day will have been in the same company.
